feet-pieds-Füße-2009

Of course you are right, Heidegger would never have given a theme like this. If he would have known, he could have given a theme like "a pied is a pied is a pied" or something like that. I try to take that theme in the way of Mrs. Sheryl Crow: "All I want to do is have some fun"....

That was my first trial, I was about 5 years old, but I already knew what is a pied and what is playing guitar. but now, - I am, as bram would say, 70 years old - I have some problems with my knees which means it isn't the pied at all....

But still having fun is for the pied something very important, ("c'est le foot") so this:

The next idea is coming more or less from the idea, that feet are often hurting, (they say, when you are getting old you have the sensation of walking all the time on little hard-edged stones - and it is true...), they are like a cactus. but the blossom means hope!

That's because I hope and expect an augmentation of many many (i'm getting into difficulties) pieds, in the sense of having fun. I now know what I have to do. Thank you Sheryl!
But in fact I don't know... what is the new theme my good old friend?

see you - and a happy New Year.

C'est le pied

Tilman got me really angry when he presented his theme for december. C'est le pied, french, apparently an expression, and indeed.
With an expression as a theme you can do everything. And it always seems wrong. An expression is a language thing. And the content of this expression has nothing to do with the word "pied", foot. Then there is "c'est", meaning "this is...", or "it is...". The verb "to be" cannot be dealt with without thinking of Heidegger. Reflecting on his work, and in particular "De Satz vom Grund" about the expression of Leibnitz: "Nihil est sine causa" where Heidegger turns this last citation inside out by stating that it means: being is that which has causes, we have to conclude that it is not the foot, but indeed "being is that which has feet".

But i guess that the reader is already busy drawing his own feet, and thinking that this act is the good life, which is apparently the meaning of "it is the foot". When i talk about Heidegger even my German friends fall asleep.

SO i decided to draw simply a foot. The pointing action of the simple word "c'" will be indicated by the pointing finger. The "Being" in the phrase is turned inside out.
This solution happens to be a great theme for my new years card.
I add a few drawings of former feet, since being has everything to do with growing feet.

To the good life of 2009!

Bruder Kleinfuss

It is really great that this november has gone. I have had such a lot of work to do, and yesterday, when my friends from the Tscheque republic have left with a terrible mess behind them, I just fell into pieces.
So my dear friend of big feet and small hands her we go.
First of course, I was rather frightened of what would be the solution to our problem...

So I tried a little bit harder and came to the following solution:

But it is not really serious, I know, because it is a big foot on an big foot and so it is not at all a solution for our really difficult problem.
lets try it another way:

Is this serious enough - I doubt it. The anatomic problems of Hand, foot, nose, eyes etc are really getting mixed up. So, please forget it! But what else?

ok. I try a last time - but I think I haven't really got the theme

Sorry about all this nonsense, but the next theme will not be in any kind more conveniant: "C'est le pied"
lets see now what you have done, bram!
